The cuisines of the Aegean, Marmara and Mediterranean regions are rich in vegetables, herbs, and fish. Central Anatolia has many famous specialties, such as keşkek, mantı (especially from Kayseri) and gözleme. Food names directly cognate with mantı are also found in Chinese (mantou or steamed bun) and Korean cuisine (mandu).

quote I recently tried Turkish food, including chicken shish and kebabs, and it was an amazing experience. The chicken shish was perfectly grilled—tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavor. The marinade was well-balanced, enhancing the natural taste of the chicken without overpowering it. Every bite was flavorful and cooked just right. The kebabs were equally impressive—rich, well-seasoned, and incredibly satisfying. The meat was soft and succulent, with a beautiful blend of spices that gave it depth and warmth. Paired with fresh bread, rice, salad, and creamy sauces, the whole meal felt authentic and comforting. Overall, the quality, flavor, and presentation were outstanding. If you’re looking for delicious, well-prepared Turkish cuisine, I highly recommend trying the chicken shish and kebabs. A truly satisfying and memorable meal!

quote I visited Kebab Zone Flagstone for the first time this week, after walking out of a competitor's store empty-handed (see my review for details). Straight up, I was hugely impressed and optimistic the minute I entered. Latif, the owner and lifelong kebab master, was friendly, knowledgeable, and more than happy to chat while he worked. The store itself was immaculately clean, and I was really impressed by the unique and innovative handwashing station on the side wall. As for the food, and coming from someone who rarely indulges in anything in the takeaway/fast food realm, everything was excellent. The chicken kebab was sizeable, flavoursome, fresh and, importantly, not oily at all. This was a kebab that ate easily, sat comfortably in my tummy (none of the usual 'concrete block' good times!) and tasted great. The chips were also good. In summary, KZF is an impressive business with friendly, efficient service and fantastic food. The next time I'm up for a naughty lunch, this will definitely be top of the list. Keep up the great work, thanks again.

quote Istanbul 1923 — Easy, cozy, decent Turkish feed Warm welcome right at the door, the waitress super kind and genuinely friendly. Finding a table was simple, seating comfortable enough, and even though it’s next to Gympie Road it stayed surprisingly quiet. Clean dining area, nice lighting, and the décor hits the Turkish vibe with photos and little handcrafted touches. Service moved smoothly without delays. Staff did their job well, nothing over-the-top, but no issues either. Food arrived hot and fine. Presentation? Meh — not as polished as other Turkish spots. Flavour was good overall. Chicken shish and lamb shish were pretty average, nothing standout, but my wife absolutely loved her lamb dish — said it beats other Turkish places in Brisbane. Desserts were the stars: baklava and knafeh rich, sweet, exactly what they should be. Portions look smaller than competitors but still enough. Water service steady. Prices fair for what you get, and no billing surprises. Overall? Solid place. Not mind-blowing, not disappointing. Worth trying, maybe worth returning for the desserts alone. I’d recommend it… maybe, depending on what someone is after.

quote One of the good takeaway spots in town, the meat is fresh and presentation was good even for the takeaway. Friendly service and delicious taste. I usually rate kebab places based on the taste and quality of the meat more than anything and this place has been aces so far!
