Mr. Zhou Dumplings – Mt Eden
The atmosphere was really nice — clean, tidy, and comfortable, with a pleasant vibe. Presentation-wise, the food looked great when it arrived, and the plating was well done.
In terms of taste, however, the dishes were a bit on the bland side. I ordered the steamed pork, chive, and prawn dumplings. They were okay, but lacked seasoning and depth of flavour — I’d rate them around 5.5/10.
The sizzling beef with black bean chilli sauce looked impressive, but again fell short on flavour.
The combination fried rice had a good amount of vegetables, which was nice, but similarly lacked flavour.
Overall, a tidy place with good presentation and a pleasant atmosphere, but the food could benefit from more seasoning and bolder flavours. Overall rating: 6/10.

Crispy fried pork with sweet and sour sauce is one of the best meals I have ever had. I would encourage you to try this if you go. The dumplings are 10/10

Came in Saturday around 2PM. Parking on main and side streets. Great as very few patrons; the place is usually packed during dinner. Nice place, simple decor, long tables so seating elbow to elbow if full. Would have wanted smaller tables - there were a few. Complementary tea in a pot was served. Ordered beef fried rice, the popular steamed pork and chives dumplings and stir fried squid. Took around 10 mins, dumplings served first. Tender juicy meat hugged by soft dumpling skin, enhanced with chili oil, vinegar and soy sauce dip. We almost finished the fare when squid meal came, followed by fried rice. I swear it was the best stir fried squid I had, perfectly cooked and seasoned with spices, onions and leeks. The fried rice was great too, with soft beef slices, peas and grains. Overall a great food experience. Hoping for the opportunity to return.
