Outstanding Chinese restaurant. My favorite restaurant in 2025. No matter how busy the restaurant it gets, the food is always great. 宫保鸡丁kung Pao Chicken surprised me. So good! And they have the best Swiss roll in Christchurch.

5 of us were dining. We chose 6 different dishes, and all 6 were absolutely beautiful. Joyful would be the most enjoyable Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. The sweet and sour chicken was the best I have ever had. The Peking Duck wraps were so delicious also.
I recommend to book a table, as it is so very popular.

We went there because of some reviews we read. However some of the food seemed overrated, the fried hofan was very hard, the wontan was not tasty, However the roasted duck and pork were delicious, the fried egg plant and long bean with beef were delicious too.

From dumplings to fried rice, pork, prawns, and mapo tofu — everything hit the spot.
Great service, great flavours.
My mouth was literally joyful. Can’t wait to come back.
