Tried out the newly opened Phoenix, and I was blown away by both the creativity and flavor!
Their Black Gold Prawn Dumplings are a showstopper — jet black with a gold shimmer, and packed with juicy, sweet prawn goodness.
And don’t even get me started on the Durian Pastry… shaped like an elegant black swan, it’s almost too pretty to eat (but I still devoured it, of course 😆).
Other highlights from the feast:
🦴 Spicy Chicken Feet
🔥 Crispy Pan-Fried Dumplings
🍢 Red Rice Noodle Rolls
🥣 Silky Congee
🍖 Juicy Pork Meatballs
It’s modern, it’s bold, and it still hits all the nostalgic dim sum notes. If you love dim sum with a twist — this is your new weekend go-to. 🥢

Went on a Sunday. This was my first time, so I had zero expectations. The service was attentive but slow and slightly pricey. Food came out in parts, but I couldn't fault the taste and the flavor. I definitely think it was worth the wait. The menu isn't extensive like your typical yum cha place but it was definitely a level higher. Everything we ordered was tasty. The lovely waitress even gave my daughters a treat. 💯 % will come again but will be more prepared of the wait.

Food selection and taste were perfect for me (not overly salty/sweet, very fresh produce), highly comparable to the standards in Hong Kong yum cha. The price was reasonable for the quality and the amount of food you got. 100% would go again and recommend anyone.
Also went for dinner the night before. Equality amazing!

Dim sums and service were good and better than the others in Christchurch.
We enjoyed the most dishes we ordered.
Any dish having pastry part was good.

The food and service were good, but the environment was very noisy because some children were running around while the adults paid no attention. It made the entire meal less enjoyable. I wish the staff would step in with a gentle reminder when this happens.
