After moving and living in Invercargill, New Zealand, our family has become huge fans of Indian cuisine. We have tried every Indian restaurant in town. This time, we drove about 25 minutes away to a place called Cafe Malabar, one of the branches of Malabar Restaurant in Winton.
As for the taste, this one takes the crown!
Big portions, friendly service, and an all-around satisfying experience.
Highly recommended for all Indian food lovers. A must-try. And for the naan, make sure you go for the garlic cheese—the taste is still stuck in my mind (and on my tongue) even now.

Delicious, authentic, buryani, lamb, chicken and vegetable curries, freshly prepared efficiently served with hot naan breads. Best Indian restaurant in NZ. Very helpful and kind staff with efficient service.

I seldom leave reviews but this restaurant is really mind blowing and reasonably priced. The owner is very friendly and the portions are generous. I have been to India before and the flavors here are just authentic and flavorful. They can adjust spicy levels for your like. The lamb is tender and fresh. The lunch offer is such a steal. It’s best Indian restaurant in NZ that I have tried so far. Definitely will come back!
