I had been a frequent lunchtime visitor but this was my first time for dinner. The restaurant has dishes from all over China from familiar Guandong dishes such as lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork to spicier fare from Szechuan, Herbei, and Shanxi. We were three and each chose a dish to share. I ordered the twice cooked pork a moderately spicy from Szechuan, my companions the sautéed lamb and pancakes , wonderfully fragrant with cumin from Shanxi. Finally another spicy dish I didn’t catch the name of from Szechuan which consisted of a chilli based broth with noodles, vegetables, and multiple other things it would be best not to ask what they are if you are not Chinese. Everything was absolutely delicious, portions generous ( we had leftovers to take home ), and reasonably priced. A nice touch was being recognised by the owner from my lunchtime visits who served us . We only partook of the tea but I did check out the drinks menu which I thought very reasonably priced for Parnell.
All in all as good as you would get in China and probably better.

Stumbled on this gem of a Chinese restaurant when we were in the area. It's definitely one of my favorite places in Auckland now. Must go if you like spicy food! Very authentic and the service was top-notch.

Dumpling lover is a very good place from kids to the elders,you can find delicious Chinese food with decent price with so many different choices such as dumplings,noodles and yummy Chinese dishes.Even for local or staff who live and work nearby,Dumpling lover will be your second canteen definitely. If you want to hold parties or events,this is a very romantic and cozy place to book as well.

Great night! Friendly staff. Food is fantastic. Strongly recommend the fried prawns with wasabi mayo. Definitely come back.
